My name is Denise Krajnc and I have been drawing and painting as long as I can remember. I had my first formal private tuition at the age of 16 under renowed artist - Charles Moodie completing 4 years of training in oils. What seemed like months of tedious preparation, I finally got to produce paintings. Little did I know then, how important that intense training would be for all that I endeavour to create today.

 

My greatest love is animals. I spend hours studying the habits, interests and their interactive behaviour. Animals have their own individual personalities when observed closely, each one very much an individual.

 

I have exceptional photographic equipment which allows me the opportunity to capture animals at a distance, unaware of my presence. I have painted numerous other subjects but enjoy the preciseness needed to create wildlife paintings. A lot of my subjects are from zoos, wildlife reserves and rescue shelters, with a lot of Australian birds and mammals from my own backyard.

 

More recently I tried my hand at pastel, having no formal training I was amazed at how this medium responded so well to wildlife works. I could finally acquire the softness so much needed in animal studies and have been exhibiting over the past 10 years very successfully, picking up 2 best in show awards, 18 best pastel, many best fauna awards and highly commended awards along the way. I have been commissioned to paint numerous individual works, with private collections in Australia, UK, America and Germany.

 

I have more recently started a new collection of Australian landscape and seascape paintings. It is amazing what nature has to offer all around us, from the old homesteads, to waterholes, coastal views, the beautiful old river redgums, and the captivating rural treasures of a bygone era that I have photographed.

 

Due to my success I have recently opened a wildlife art and craft gallery which enables more people the opportunity to view and purchase my works.

 

I have a deep respect for wildlife and nature and hope it conveys in my work.
